A very Happy Birthday to Sir Paul McCartney, born on this day June 18th, 1942 in Liverpool, England. Now I know I what you may be thinking. This is a music review site about the Chicago area music scene and Paul McCartney is English. My Chicago connection is that McCartney is headlining The Lollapalooza Festival on July 31st in Grant Park, Chicago, IL.
Sir Paul is the most successful rock composer of all time and has been a member of The Quarrymen, The Beatles Wings and The Fireman. He has written and co-written 188 songs that have made the charts. Of those songs, 33 made it to No.1 and 91 made it in the Top 10.
Want to see Paul play at Lollapalooza and do not want to pay those scalpers high ticket prices? You can win a chance to see him for free on his website:

“Live and Let Die” was written by Paul and Linda McCartney and performed by Paul’s band Wings. It is the main theme song of the 1973 James Bond film Live and Let Die and it was commissioned specifically for the movie. The song reunited Paul with the Beatle’s producer, George Martin. George produced the song and also arranged the orchestral break (where the fireworks go off during the song). It was Wings most successful single as it reached No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Here is Paul’s performance of “Live and Let Die” at Wrigley Field, Chicago on August 1,2011. I was at that concert and this song is always of highlight of Paul’s show.
