Ten time Grammy winner, and pianist John Legend returns to Chicago, June 10th, 2017 to perform at the beautiful Ravinia Festival. Selling well over the 3,400 seat capacity pavilion. John performed his fifth studio album “Darkness and Light” captivating his entire audience through a two hour set.
John began the night with cheerful greetings from his greatest Chicago fans. John’s fans continuously gave standing ovations, kept him amped through a two hour set.
The jammed pack set list included songs from the newly released album such as “I Know Better”, self titled track, “Darkness and Light”, “Penthouse Floor”, “Surefire”, “Love Me Now”, “What You Do To Me” and “Right By You (For Luna)”. Legend also included fan favorites such as “Save Room”, “Green Light” and “All of Me”.
A tribute to Luna
The night was filled with special moments, dedicating songs, such as “Right By You” to his daughter Luna, who also joined him on tour alongside with her mother Chrissy Teigen. John also encouraged his audience to say “I love you” to loved ones. A statement that he expressed is felt all around but not said enough.
A Slow dance
During the later half of the show Legend brought one very fortuitous Ms., from the audience up on stage to join him for a “Slow Dance”. Bring smiles to many, Legend did more than perform his music but made it more than a memorable concert night but made his concert soul satisfying event for many.
The final farewell
John Legend ended the evening performing “Oscar” and “Grammy” winning song “Glory”, on the piano. John paired “Glory” with a video that paid tribute to the Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s and more recently the Black Lives Matter movement.
