“Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll.” 40 years ago a group of like minded music fans launched their own tv network dubbed @mtv originally called Sight on Sound. A network dedicated it to all things music with the main focus being around videos. The idea was crazy and the industry said no one would watch it. Things changed very quick when they launched music television on August 1st, 1981. Fans signed on to watch the first video, “Video Killed The Radio Star” by The Buggles. Glued to the tv waiting for whatever was going to happen next America’s youth were hooked. Sadly to most, this format only lasted only about half the time they’ve been around, but in that time, they changed the music scene.
