Ryan Berndt’s prized flugelhorn was taken from his vehicle while it was parked on a Bucktown street. A couple weeks ago, he was at the 1700 block of N. Milwaukee Ave. When he came out, he noticed his car broken into and his instrument case missing.
The case is pretty recognizable as well as the brass instrument. It was a large brown leather case that held two other instruments besides the flugelhorn. The case alone is worth $1000. The flugelhorn is valued at $14000.
He’s now playing a loaner, but put out an APB on the instruments he played at Carnegie Hall and hundreds of other venues for the past 16 years.
The pawn shops and police have been alerted and he is searching everywhere online.
If you see them or hear of anything, please let the Chicago Police know.
