Today, out of the blue, iconic metal blasters Slayer made a surprise announcement that they will be returning this summer for, at least the moment, two concerts. One in Louisville, Kentucky at Louder Than Life, the other right here in Chicago for Riot Fest. This coming just weeks after Kerry King released new single and band lineup for his solo act, Kerry King. We’re not sure what’s going on here, but it’s something. Slayer fans have been distraught since the band called it quits almost 5 years ago and some claiming the world seemed to fall apart since their demise.
We reached out to the band for comment but all they could tell us is that yes, the band is excited about playing live again and will be reuniting with the band members being Tom Araya, Kerry King, Gary Holt and Paul Bostaph. No interviews or other news given.
We’re not sure what to expect with the return of Slayer, but one things for certain, we’re ready for it. SLAAAAAYER is back!
From the bands PR:
LOS ANGELES, CA — Wednesday, February 21, 2024 – For the first time since the band wrapped the last concert of its Final World Tour back in November 2019, Slayer – Tom Araya/ bass & vocals, guitarists Kerry King and Gary Holt, and Paul Bostaph on drums – announce they will return to the stage this fall, headlining two major festivals, Riot Fest and Louder Than Life.
“Nothing compares to the 90 minutes when we’re on stage playing live, sharing that intense energy with our fans,” said Araya, “and to be honest, we have missed that.” Added King, “Have I missed playing live? Absolutely. Slayer means a lot to our fans; they mean a lot to us. It will be five years since we have seen them.”
