BLAST RADIO LAUNCHES WORLDWIDE FIRST AUDIO ONLY HIGH QUALITY STREAMING PLATFORM FOR CREATORS

BLAST RADIO LAUNCHES WORLDWIDE FIRST AUDIO ONLY HIGH QUALITY STREAMING PLATFORM FOR CREATORS
FEATURING EXCLUSIVE CONTENT FROM MATTHEW DEAR, CARL CRAIG, STEFFI, THE JUAN MACLEAN, ALARM WILL SOUND AND MORE
Officially launching today, Blast Radio is the only audio platform (no video) where listeners can hear directly from the artists they love, daily. It’s a completely new listening experience where artists have the freedom to broadcast content they may never publish elsewhere with the press of one button.
Broadcasts on Blast Radio are only available for 24 hours. They’re created with a simple piece of hardware, Blast Box. Artists plug any audio equipment into the device with an RCA cable, connect the device to their Blast Radio profile with bluetooth, then press one button to broadcast live on the Blast Radio app.
Listeners follow artists and are notified when they broadcast. They can then tune in live or for 24 hours afterwards, send tips, share broadcasts, and send positive reactions (Vibes).
“Over the last 15 years, I noticed that reality has no place on visual social media platforms. People have been reduced to doctored selfies and public displays of perfection. This is especially challenging for musicians where sound is their secret weapon. Blast Radio gives artists an easy way to reach fans with their actual talents and to do so in an environment that’s not meant to be curated and perfect. It’s a space for artists, to be heard, and to highlight their work, not their appearance,” said Yousef Ali, Founder and CEO, Blast Radio.
More than 150 artists have signed up to use the platform for spontaneous performances, weekly radio shows, album release previews, broadcasting from venues, and more. Artists already connecting with audiences via Blast Radio include Ghostly International founder Matthew Dear, Grammy-nominated composer and legendary Detroit DJ Carl Craig, artist and owner of Klakson and Dolly imprint Steffi, eclectic and prolific Brooklyn based DJ and producer The Juan MacLean, critically acclaimed chamber orchestra Alarm Will Sound, and many, many more. Additional details can be found below.
“I’m always searching for ways to connect with fans. Whether I’m jamming in the studio or playing a DJ set, I need an effortless way to broadcast my music, instantly. Blast Radio has now made that process extremely simple. I just did my first broadcast from Detroit and listened back to the set afterward. I can’t wait to share more live music soon,” said Matthew Dear.
“From my start, the music that I create and listen to changes constantly. Music is very personal to me. When I perform music, I feel I’m giving part of me. Sharing is Caring! The beauty is that the artform of being a DJ evolves as I do. Performing live at shows is great but there’s a ton of music that I love that I can’t play because there’s just too much to share on one tour. On Blast Radio, I can broadcast what I care about right now, and do so in an environment built for high resolution audio – where it sounds great, isn’t restricted by low res algorithms, and isn’t competing against a world of curated selfies and cat videos,” said Carl Craig.
“With so many musicians working together to create music, there’s a lot of evolution that happens even from one rehearsal to the next. In the past, we’ve opened rehearsals to the public and received great feedback from listeners that want to share in the process of our creation. We’re excited to use Blast Radio to give that same experience to more people around the world,” said Alan Pierson, Artistic Director/Conductor, Alarm Will Sound.
“These past few months I’ve been working on a lot of new projects. Blast Radio opens up new doors and makes it easy to share with listeners all over the world,” said Steffi.
The artists we know and love are creating all the time, but we only get to hear a fraction of that content — what is deemed ‘on brand’ and worthy of a ‘final release’.
On Blast Radio, listeners get an insider view into the creative process. Artists own the relationship with their fans. Listeners now have a simple donation-based platform to hear directly from the artists they love and stream completely fresh content daily.
Blast Box device and Blast Radio app key benefits:
  • Simple; press one button on Blast Box to broadcast
  • Content disappears after 24 hours, no camera which means creators have the freedom to share whatever they want without worrying about it being available forever
  • Flexible; device connects to any audio source through an RCA cable (turntable, mixer, sound board, cassette player etc.)
  • Portable; device is pocket sized so it can go anywhere + broadcasts to Blast Radio over Wifi (vs having to connect it to a phone or computer with wires)
  • High-quality; audio is captured in a lossless format and streamed to the listener in highest available sound quality
  • Supportive community; there is no mechanism for negative feedback on Blast Radio (no comments, no trolls — only listening, sharing, tipping — which are rewarded in the platform)
Some of what you will hear on the Blast Radio app:
  • Matthew Dear: The recording artist and co-founder of Ghostly International will be broadcasting live on June 10th, doing a live mix of the songs that inspired his techno productions as Audion and Brain. Then later this month, he will do a broadcast related the release of his upcoming album, Preacher’s Sigh & Potion: Lost Album
  • Carl Craig: The Grammy-nominated composer and legendary Detroit DJ will be doing a weekly broadcast on Wednesday evenings starting June 9
  • Steffi: Later this month, Steffi will broadcast a DJ mix from her new studio in the Portuguese countryside featuring new tracks of her own as well as recent and upcoming releases from her labels Klakson and Dolly.
  • The Juan Maclean: Later this month the eclectic and prolific Brooklyn based DJ and producer will do an ambient live set in advance of a series of ambient releases he will be releasing.
  • Alarm Will Sound: On June 13th, the critically acclaimed chamber orchestra will broadcast an unreleased live performance with singer-songwriter Alyssa Pyper. Later this year, they will invite listeners into their creative process with live broadcasts of rehearsals leading up to the release of an upcoming album, a follow-up to Acoustica: The Music of Aphex Twin.
  • And many more — Including Brooklyn locals, NTS regulars, HOR Berlin regulars, live venues, and artists on labels like Warp, Ghostly International, Hyperdub, Ilian Tape.
Product availability:
  • The Blast Radio app is available in the App Store or Google Play Store
  • Artists can pre-order a Blast Box at blastradio.com
