Jerry Bryant (Host and Creator of JBTV) has started a GoFundMe campaign to modernize and upgrade a show that he’s been running for almost three and a half decades right here in Chicago. The JBTV Studio is in need of serious repairs and upgrades. Equipment is aging, falling apart and not up to industry standards.
Why should you care? Because Jerry does. If you are a fan of music, music television (the way it’s supposed to be), local bands, nations bands, live concerts, intimate settings with your favorite groups, you need to care.
JBTV has no sponsors. It’s not owned by any network. No corporations to determine how it’s going to be run or operated. It’s a huge trade off being independent, but one Jerry has been championing since before at least half his audience was even born.
Here is what JBTV has to say:
In an effort to share the JBTV history with its fans, the music television program will be offering the highly valuable memorabilia acquired over the 34 year history of JBTV. This includes signed artist posters, artist setlists and other unique JBTV items including Layne Staley’s (Of Alice in Chains) autographed wheelchair that was used by him when he broke his leg on tour.
JBTV appreciates any and all contributions no matter how big or how small. This will allow us to continue to produce the best live performance videos of many of your favorite artists.
After 34 consecutive years of breaking bands, the equipment at JBTV has run its course and is ready to be upgraded and replaced.JBTV has released a GoFundMe Page for its fans, friends, and bands to support the music television program. The goal for the JBTV GoFundMe is $75,000 and all donations will go towards new cameras, digital storage, audio console, and the stage.
“JBTV is ready for the next technological upgrade to the latest 4k technology. Linear editing and storing videos on tape machines is partially what the music television program is famous for. The JBTV studio is filled with tapes The money donated would also help transform that music history from several formats and put them into digital form. “
