The Disfunction – Many Jose Lorenzo (Vocals, Synth & Tambourines), Francis X. Guzman (Lead, Rhythm & Acoustic Guitars, Keyboards) & Nicky Godinez (Bass, Rhythm & Acoustic Guitars) – flew all the way in from Puerto Rico this year for SXSW and a prime spot in Splash’s Magic Hour concert at Mohawk. On a gray London kind of day in downtown Austin, The Disfunction, shines a clear light of classic rock with a psychedelic twist through the pea soup night in town.
Long hair and mustached, The Disfunction looks every bit of classic rock band. You can’t tell if these folks are Blur, Zeppelin or ZZ Top. Doesn’t matter. Shut up. They’re good, they’re fun. And they take the flamingoed neon flow of the night right where it needs to be to remind America’s aging party town it can still be hip, even if just for one day.
So this isn’t much of a write up for the Blogland but it doesn’t need to be. The words don’t matter, just the music and The Disfunction is classic crunchy groove rock waiting to burrow it’s ear worm into your brain home.
