CDSM’s new album Convertible Hearse is a gloriously sleazy ride through the underbelly of electro-punk decadence. Dripping with sex appeal and a delightfully trashy edge, the tracks swerve between grinding synths, snarling vocals, and dancefloor-drenched filth. There’s a sleazy confidence that echoes the spirit of My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult — part retro noir, part industrial burlesque — but with a raw, modern swagger all their own pushing hints of Idles and The Immortals. Each song feels like a dive bar fever dream, equal parts seductive and dangerous. Trashy never sounded so good.

Atlanta, Georgia natives, CDSM (Celebrity Death Slot Machine) are ready to unleash hell. Described as, “a freakout post-punk group” by Flood, and an “edgy genre-blending outfit” by Psychedelic Baby Mag, the boundary pushing psych-rockers are set to release their debut full length LP, Convertible Hearse, on May 23rd, 2025 via EXAG’ Records & Mothland. The album’s focus track, “Shockable Rhythm,” is an intense, electrifying precursor to the album. “Shockable Rhythm” showcases CDSM’s signature blend of edgy synths and brooding vocals, creating a dark-wave narrative as the lyrics recount a near-fatal car accident. The victim fights to survive, with the “shockable rhythm” symbolizing life’s pulse, revived by a powerful chorus defiantly singing, “I am still alive.” Despite the track’s eerie circumstances and its alignment with the album’s darker tone, “Shockable Rhythm” feels like a bold call to action—a challenge to persevere and push forward. CDSM on the track, “Macabre new wave with a touch of industrial track, “Shockable Rhythm”, closes CDSM’s debut full-length album, Convertible Hearse. Kickstarted by a jolt of acapella vocoder rendering the words, “I am still alive”, the song depicts an accident involving a 16-wheeler, as well as memories from the near-death experience that followed. Minimal synthetic arrangements, supported by an electronically-enhanced disco pulse and interjected by melodic vibraphone chimes, team up to create an absolute cliffhanger for the album coda, prompting us to start the album over as we await the sequel.“ Convertible Hearse is out May 23rd via Mothland & EXAG’ Records. |

CDSM Bio: CSDM a.k.a. Celebrity Death Slot Machine is a “freakout post-punk group” (FLOOD Magazine) based in Atlanta, GA. Their stylish sonic onslaught is anchored around dancey rhythms, atypical synthesizer work, timely saxophone growls, as well as goth rock-esque melodies that serve to recount bizarre humor-laden tales from a derelict parallel universe. Since forming in 2021, the band has toured North America and Europe, sharing the stage with likes of The KVB, BODEGA, Sheer Mag, Iceage, and Model/Actriz, while also taking part in events such as SXSW, Treefort Festival, Art Rock Festival, Hopscotch Festival, and M for Montreal. CDSM’s introductory EP, Hell Stairs (2022), was both glamorous and bleak, swanky and derelict, uplifting and crushing, described by the band as “hedonism clinking in your glass, change jingling in the pit of your chest.” Atlanta’s hot new commodity followed with a slew of music videos – “GOGO” (2023), “Entertainment” (2023), “DOM” (2023), and “SHADY” (2024) – amidst a stretch that saw them bring their sweaty live set to the very best underground venues the United States, Canada and Europe have to offer. The death disco purveyors are to unearth their debut full-length: Convertible Hearse (May 23rd, 2025 via EXAG’ Records & Mothland). |
