A packed crowd of endearing fans gathered at House of Blues Chicago on Saturday night to join the brothers Hanson. Celebrating thirty years of continuous songwriting and touring, Hanson covered all of their fanbase’s must-hears, everything from “MMMBop” off of their 1997 album Middle of Nowhere to “Child at Heart” off of their latest album Red Green Blue. No album in their decades-long discography was spared, and the building vibrated as if all in attendance knew each and every word.
Each of the brothers took time during the set to showcase their individual talents in line with the unique approach to having recorded Red Green Blue to showcase each band member. Eldest brother Isaac graced the stage to share “Write You a Song,” written for his daughter Nina during the pandemic. The song felt a lot like a reminder for everyone listening to return to your roots and remember the fun of childhood. Middle brother Taylor played an acoustic number off of Red Green Blue called “Rambling Heart,” showcasing the band’s true versatility across genre and style, while Zac’s “Annalie” saw the drummer take a different approach via piano.
Opening band Allen Mack Myers Moore, including Zach Myers (Shinedown), Chris Allen and Justin Moore (Ingram Hill), and Zack Mack (Brimstone Jones), started the evening off with a twangy rendition of “Waterfalls” by TLC.
