Led by singer\/guitarist Nikhil Rao, Bottled up delighted the crowd with their blend of<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>1970\u2019s and 1980\u2019s-inspired rock that was as vital and contemporary as it was reminiscent<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>of a time before any these incredible musicians were born.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Bottled-Up-Pearl-Street-DC-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63351\" srcset=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Bottled-Up-Pearl-Street-DC-4.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Bottled-Up-Pearl-Street-DC-4-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Bottled-Up-Pearl-Street-DC-4-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Bottled-Up-Pearl-Street-DC-4-120x80.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Rao makes no effort to hide his affection for Talking Heads and literally wears it on his<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>sleeve \u2013 he&#8217;s got \u201cStop Making Sense\u201d tattooed on his left arm and, of course, the band\u2019s<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>songs shimmer with reflections of this inspiration and we were all the better for it. But the<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>magic doesn\u2019t end with Rao, his bandmates &#8211; Jeremy Ray (drums), Nina Randazzo (bass),<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Dajando Smith (guitar\/vocals) &#8211; were instrumental in manifesting these songs before their<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>audience and it was a delight to watch and hear them do it. Berenyi and company shared that<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>hiccups with their travel and a lengthy immigration line at the airport caused them to rush<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>to the gig and make it just in time. Their 17-song<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>set included five Lush covers, surely satiating fans of Berenyi\u2019s work from the early 1990s.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The crowd ate it up and swayed and sang and bathed in the sonic atmosphere. There were<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>a handful of interesting folks that showed up, too&#8230;Mark and Wendy Redfern from Under<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>the Radar Magazine, Dave Mann, the bassist for local dream pop band anocean, and Will<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ritcher, one of the most unique photographers in the area.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Miki-Berenyi-Trio-Pearl-Street-DC-05.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63355\" srcset=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Miki-Berenyi-Trio-Pearl-Street-DC-05.jpg 819w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Miki-Berenyi-Trio-Pearl-Street-DC-05-240x300.jpg 240w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Miki-Berenyi-Trio-Pearl-Street-DC-05-768x960.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Toward the end of their set, Berenyi reminded the audience that they don\u2019t do encores but<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>did appreciate the rush that came from an audience begging for more and offered that they<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>could take advantage of the time it took her to catch her breath and hit her vape. The<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>audience new their assignment and howled and cajoled the band to play more songs,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>which they did before launching into a cover of Lush\u2019s Light From A Dead Star and then<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>their original single, Stranger.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>While many in the audience had seen Berenyi perform before this was first time for others.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>But after communing with the band and crowd for 17 songs and catching up with them in<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>the crowd for selfies and autographs afterwards, no one left the show a Stranger.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Be sure to check out their debut album,
