(Is this the first time a band had the same guest on-stage to<\/em> <em>play the same song in one weekend? One of<\/em> <em>the loudest, tightest bands you\u2019re likely to see, it\u2019s safe to say that those who didn\u2019t know<\/em> <em>much about the British post-punkers walked away as fans. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"533\" src=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Idles-51-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62542\" srcset=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Idles-51-1.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Idles-51-1-300x156.jpg 300w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Idles-51-1-768x400.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Add another to the special guest<\/em> <em>category\u2014Jack White coming onstage to play \u201cNever Fight a Man With a Perm\u201d was surely<\/em> <em>one of those only-at-Riot-Fest moments. (He was also a great addition to IDLES\u2019 overall<\/em> <em>sound\u2014Third Man collab, perhaps?)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Idles-36-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62548\" srcset=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Idles-36-1.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Idles-36-1-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Idles-36-1-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Idles-36-1-768x768.jpg 768w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Idles-36-1-500x500.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Irish quartet Inhaler showed off why their star continues to rise, and vocalist\/guitarist Elijah<\/em> <em>Hewson is an effortlessly charismatic, engaging frontman\u2014then again, it runs in the family, so<\/em> <em>maybe that\u2019s not too surprising. (Look it up.) That said, Inhaler doesn\u2019t need the boost from<\/em> <em>anyone\u2014new album Open Wide continues their run of epic-sounding albums drawing on<\/em> <em>multiple influences, and tunes like \u201cDublin in Ecstasy,\u201d \u201cMy King Will Be Kind,\u201d and the<\/em> <em>infectious, soaring refrain of \u201cIt Won\u2019t Always Be Like This\u201d were perfect for a festival crowd.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Inhaler.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62543\" srcset=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Inhaler.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Inhaler-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Inhaler-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Inhaler-120x80.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Much like Friday\u2019s set from Blink-182, Sunday headliners Green Day have reached heights that<\/em> <em>are nearly unachievable by modern standards in the music industry, belonging to a class of<\/em> <em>bands who are entrenched in the public consciousness with a diehard, iron-clad fanbase.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Greenday-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62544\" srcset=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Greenday-1-1.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Greenday-1-1-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Greenday-1-1-768x512.jpg 768w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Greenday-1-1-120x80.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>When you think of Green Day in the 1990s, it would have been hard to imagine them in the<\/em> <em>same class as Metallica, U2, the Stones, but here we are, and it couldn\u2019t be more deserved.<\/em> <em>Crushing a nearly two-hour set that drew from various eras of the band\u2019s history\u2014and on the<\/em> <em>21st anniversary of American Idiot, no less\u2014Green Day\u2019s set saw the hits (\u201cKnow Your<\/em> <em>Enemy,\u201d \u201c21 Guns,\u201d \u201cWhen I Come Around\u201d), the fan favorites (\u201cJesus of Suburbia,\u201d<\/em> <em>\u201cMinority\u201d), and rarities (\u201cGoing to Pascalaqua,\u201d \u201cThe Grouch\u201d).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Greenday-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62545\" srcset=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Greenday-2.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Greenday-2-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Greenday-2-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Greenday-2-768x768.jpg 768w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-Chicago-Greenday-2-500x500.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>All to a backdrop that normally<\/em> <em>lives in stadiums and plenty of fireworks. Billie Joe, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool still have the<\/em> <em>energy of teenagers, and as one would hope and expect, there were plenty of political<\/em> <em>messages that resonated with the tens of thousands gathered in Douglass Park, with Billie Joe<\/em> <em>changing the lyrics to opener \u201cAmerican Idiot\u201d to \u201cI\u2019m not part of a MAGA agenda.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"507\" src=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-By-Air-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62550\" srcset=\"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-By-Air-7.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-By-Air-7-300x149.jpg 300w, http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Riot-Fest-2025-By-Air-7-768x380.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">default<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Riot Fest 2025 is in the books &#8211; and by all counts, it was one of the best in the fest\u2019s history,<\/em> <em>which seems appropriate given the fact that it\u2019s the twentieth anniversary and Chicago even<\/em> <em>proclaimed September 21st as Riot Fest Day by order of the Mayor.
