On Thursday, 16 January 2025, Cracker played to a sold-out crowd at the State Theatre in<\/em> Falls Church, Virginia on a very cold night. Not surprised it’s a sold-out show since this is their home turf. The demographic comprised largely of Gen Xers<\/em> out for the late weeknight show to hear the soundtrack to some of their best times in the<\/em> 1990s.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this night and tour, the band included David Lowery on rhythm guitar and vocals,<\/em> Johnny Hickman on lead guitar and vocals, Bryan Howard on bass, and CoCo \u201cEl Tractor\u201d<\/em> Owens on drums. Cracker\u2019s Johnny Hickman opened the show. And both Cracker and<\/em> Hickman were joined by Chicago-based violinist\/fiddle player Anne Harris, who just may<\/em> have stolen the show with her talented musicianship, energetic stage presence, and<\/em> undeniable charm.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

To the uninitiated, Cracker are known for a string of 1990\u2019s rock radio hits that include<\/em> “Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now),” \u201cLow,\u201d “Get Off This,” and “Euro-Trash Girl.”<\/em> But make no mistake, this band is more than just a few catchy songs with some great<\/em> lyrics, they\u2019re what you get when you combine punk, country, blues, folk, and psychedelia<\/em> with great songwriting, smart lyrics, and positive energy. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band delivered a no holds<\/em> barred onslaught of their back catalog, even dipping into Lowery\u2019s Camper Van Beethoven<\/em> songs, and none of that was lost on the crowd who danced, sang, drank, and celebrated a<\/em> night that made them young again even if for just a few hours. Harris performed a solo<\/em> where she played and sang a beautiful piece that the crowd delivered a huge round of<\/em> applause before Cracker ended the show with three encore songs.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be sure to catch Cracker in Athens and Woodstock, Georgia in March <\/em>followed by Morrison, Colorado in June.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
