An Evening with Drummer and Producer<\/strong>Martin Atkins<\/a><\/strong>Friday, October 4, 2024<\/strong>5-8PM CT<\/strong> Lubeznik Center for the Arts<\/strong>101 W. 2nd Street, Michigan City, IN 46360<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Join us for First Friday at LCA, featuring an evening of spectacular art exhibits along with an interview and Q & A with drummer Martin Atkins!<\/strong> Atkins will be interviewed by his friend and colleague, Chicago rock n’ roll photographer,Bobby Talamine<\/a>. Atkins will offer insights into his career, discuss his creative process, the evolution of music production and the challenges and rewards of a life dedicated to art. His talk promises to be a fascinating experience for music enthusiasts and those interested in the creative arts. The evening will wrap up with an audience question and answer session with Atkins.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Aktin’s over 40 years in the music business spans across genres, borders and industries. He was a member of Public Image Ltd and Killing Joke. He founded industrial super group Pigface, The Damage Manual and Murder Inc. and contributed to Nine Inch Nails and Ministry during their most celebrated periods. He is the owner of Invisible Records, founder of the Museum of Post Punk and Industrial Music in Chicago, creator of GTFOOB coffee with Dark Matter Coffee and author of three books on the music business. Martin is also the coordinator of music industry studies at Millikin University. In addition, he is a producer, drummer, documentary filmmaker, DJ, husband and father of four.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
All are welcome to this free event at LCA and are encouraged to participate in the discussion and ask questions. Attendees will also be able to peruse LCA galleries. On display will be art exhibits by <\/strong>\ufeff<\/a>Dane Hansen<\/strong><\/a>, and Teresina Pavel.<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
<\/a>“Wickryth” by Dane Hansen<\/strong> The “Wickryth” collection is an introspection of the first year of Hansen\u2019s musical journey since starting his project in the dungeon synth genre. The runic Wickryth symbol is at the heart of the collection and can be found scattered throughout the artwork and hidden in its logo. The meloncholic passages of his dark ambient dungeon synth, he conjures under the name Wickryth, transports the listener through mental landscapes of medieval forests and ruins.<\/td><\/a> “Center Points: Then…Now…Always”<\/strong>by Teresina Pavel<\/strong> Teresina Pavel\u2019s artwork always has a centerpoint: often times explicit, sometimes implied. Shapes, lines and colors reflect one another like visual echoes; but shift in intensity, tone and direction. With her background in art education and art therapy, she finds that making art takes her on an emotional journey, as she creates images and patterns that help give order to what could be chaos.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
