The perfect way to celebrate PRIDE month is seeing Orville Peck!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orville and the opening bands, Durand Jones and Debbi Dawson played at Aragon Ballroom located in the Uptown neighborhood in the middle of PRIDE month. Fans stood in line that spanned 4 blocks east of the venue in the hot summer temp and no one was fazed. I loved seeing the fans dressed up wearing cowboy hats, boots, fringe, and masks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daniel Pitout originally from South Africa is known as Orville Peck is a Canadian\/U.S. gay country musician known for wearing a fringe mask in various lengths and his vocality activism in the LGBQT+ community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I discovered Orville while living in Texas many years ago through a friend. In 2019, I purchased tickets to see Orville in San Antonio, Texas. However, Covid happened, and the show was canceled and rescheduled for 2021. Four years later, here we are, I finally saw him live and the wait was worth it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Stampede Tour opened with Debbi Dawson at 6:30 pm and Durand Jones at 7:15 pm, both setting the mood for a fabulous night. The floor and balcony filled up as each set played and I am surprised it wasn\u2019t sold out because it was crowded. Around 8:15, Orville\u2019s band came on to the stage and the audience cheered them on and when Orville walked on to the stage, the crowd went wild with excitement. The first song that they played was Big Sky off of his 2019 Pony Album. Fans from all ages, 2 being the youngest, and various backgrounds including LGBQT+ were present, seen, and heard as they sang along with Orville throughout the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the show Orville set three rules for his fans: Dance if you can, Sing if you can even if you don\u2019t know the words, and Cry if you must. Orville dedicated and sang Drive Me Crazy (2020 Show Pony EP) to a fan who is a trucker. He also handed out roses to many of his fans throughout the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orville wore his eye mask through the entirety of the show but didn\u2019t wear his fringe mask until the towards the end of the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Show ended with \u201cDaytona Sand\u201d but teased the fans with two encore songs, a beautiful \u201cUnchained Melody\u201d cover by The Unrighteous Brothers and ended the night with \u201cBronco\u201d which was a great sendoff song. Be sure to check out the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I ran into two fans before the show, Bree and Heather who said, \u201cI love that he captures other artists and gives them a platform to support the LGBQT community, especially in the genre of county music. This will mean so fucking much in these small towns. People will want to celebrate who they are, their sexuality, and their diversity. His vocals, style, and everything is so amazing, we love him!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about the show a new fan said, \u201cHonestly, the crowd was my favorite part, I\u2019m not familiar with his music but the crowd made it so so fun. The clothes, queer vibes, and the passion was electric.\u201d<\/em>  (Quote from Audrey Maxey)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
