WHO: <\/strong>The City of Chicago and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) celebrate the return of the diverse and multicultural\u2026<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

WHAT: World Music Festival Chicago (Sept 22 \u2013 Oct 1)<\/strong> brings 10 consecutive days of live, global music by award-winning artists from around the world to the citywide, multi-venue festival. This year\u2019s festival features more than 35 artists, 3 DJs, and ensembles representing 20 countries and regions of the world at 11 venues across Chicago. The free festival also celebrates 11 years of Ragamala, the largest all-night presentation of live Indian classical music in the United States, hosted at the Chicago Cultural Center (Sept 29-30). The Global Peace Picnic returns Sept 30 featuring six Latine dance companies and three global bands performing across two stages at the Humboldt Park Boathouse, 1301 N. Sacramento Ave. All World Music Festival Chicago concerts are free<\/u>; reservations for music venues are encouraged. RSVP here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ragamala<\/strong>, the largest all-night presentation of live Indian classical music in the United States, returns for its 11th year as part of the festival. Visitors have the rare opportunity to hear the ragas (traditional scales or modes) during the early morning and late-night hours as they were meant to be played. The Ragamala celebration takes place at the Chicago Cultural Center from September 29 at 6pm through September 30 at 8am.<\/p>\n

The Global Peace Picnic <\/strong>(September 30) returns to Humboldt Park with two stages\u2014the \u00a1S\u00fabelo! Stage featuring six Latine dance companies, and the Global Stage presenting three bands headlined by AMAYO.<\/p>\n

The citywide global celebration concludes with a double-bill program at The Hideout on October 1, featuring the Madalisto Band (Malawi) and Luciano Antonio’s Funk no Samba (Brazil\/Chicago).<\/p>\n
