All female photographer exhibit called \u201cFrom Her to Eternity” comes to Chicago and is on display until Sept 17, 2023 at the Wabash Arts Corridor, Wabash Arts Corridor, located at S Wabash Ave and E Eighth St in Chicago’s vibrant South Loop Neighborhood, just steps from Grant Park.<\/p>\n
The exhibit was created by the Archive of Contemporary Music and curated by ARC Board of Advisor member\u00a0Courtney Love<\/strong>\u00a0and ARC creative director Julie Panebianco.\u00a0\u00a0It\u00a0is the first large scale exhibition of its kind, comprised of influential photos shot by 48\u00a0women\u2014including legends Janette Beckman,\u00a0Ellen von Unwerth<\/strong>, and\u00a0Linda McCartney<\/strong>, as well as contemporary photographers like\u00a0Pooneh Ghana<\/strong>\u00a0and Jackie Lee Young.<\/p>\n “From Her to Eternity: The Women Who Photograph Music” holds immense significance in recognizing and honoring female photographers\u2019 often-underrepresented contributions in the world of music, This exhibition aims to amplify their vision, celebrate their achievements, and shine a light on their unique perspectives. Their plan is to have this show travel to London, New York and Los Angeles, sharing this extraordinary exhibit showcasing the power and artistry of female photographers.\u00a0It is an opportunity to celebrate their achievements, explore their artistic journeys, and shed light on the immense impact women have made in shaping the culture of music.<\/p>\n Courtney Love<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Julie Panebianco<\/strong>, ARCny Creative Director and Philanthropist, have brought together the work of 46 world-renowned Music Women Photographers into one grand urban tapestry that highlights the so important role of Women in the music industry, both in front of and behind the camera. To name but a few examples of iconic wonderful photographs on view at the exhibition: Bj\u00f6rk, Aretha Franklin, U2, Buddy Guy, PJ Harvey, Salt-n-Pepa, Jane\u2019s Addiction, Kurt Cobain, Billie Eilish, Beck, Flea, Pussy Riot, Lenny Kravitz, Chance the Rapper, Blur, Michael Stipe, Ringo Starr, Anita Lane, Courtney Love, Nick Cave, Robert Smith, Celine Dion, Cardi B, Kiss, U2, Cocteau Twins\u2026<\/p>\n The exhibition features an array of female artists linked by their passion, hard work and exemplary exquisiteness on their gaze and commitment with contemporary music and artists from every angle and moment when they were created: Linda McCartney, Laura Levine, Ellen von Unwerth, Katarina Benzova, Pooneh Ghana, Sheila Rock, Ebet Roberts, The Tyler Twins, Melissa Auf Der Maur, Ruth Baza, Christy Bush, Kate Simon, Pam Springsteen, Carinthia West, Les Guzman, Christina Birrer and many others.<\/p>\n Each artist gracefully embraced the topic which is part of their life in a way that elevates women and their legacy, empower them and all Women, hence this a tribute, and hence the title, FROM HER TO ETERNITY: THE WOMEN WHO PHOTOGRAPH MUSIC. \u201cWe named the project FromHerToEternity and dedicated it to the memory of Anita Lane, member of the Birthday Party and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Anita co-wrote the song \u2018From Her to Eternity\u2019 that the band used as a name for their first record.
