Alternative post-punk outfit\u00a0The Bellwether Syndicate\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>have released\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>‘Golden Age’<\/strong><\/a>, the final single from their\u00a0‘Vestige & Vigil’ album<\/strong><\/a>, out on April 28 via\u00a0Sett Records<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in North America and elsewhere via\u00a0Nexilis Records \/ \u00a0Schubert Music Europe<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

With its ethereal atmosphere and haunted vocals, ‘Golden Age’ warns of getting lost in nostalgia at the cost of the time that remains, yielding an unforgettable shimmering chorus that stays with you. Directed by\u00a0William Faith<\/strong><\/a>, the accompanying video was created by\u00a0Sarah Rose Faith, Kristen Chiacchia, Hani von Gehenna\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0William Faith\u00a0<\/strong>with still images by\u00a0Bobby Talamine, Kristen Chiacchia\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0James Currie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Based in Chicago, The Bellwether Syndicate is\u00a0William Faith\u00a0<\/strong>(vox, guitars),\u00a0Sarah Rose Faith\u00a0<\/strong>(vox, guitars),\u00a0Philly Peroxide<\/strong>\u00a0(keyboards, percussion),\u00a0Stevyn Grey\u00a0<\/strong>(drums) and\u00a0Corey Gorey<\/strong>\u00a0(guitars). Formerly of seminal goth acts\u00a0Christian Death, Mephisto Walz\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Shadow Project\u00a0<\/strong>and co-founder of\u00a0Faith & The Muse<\/strong><\/a>, William Faith moved from his native LA to Chicago in 2010, forming The Bellwether Syndicate with\u00a0Sarah Rose Faith\u00a0<\/strong>a.k.a.\u00a0Scary Lady Sarah<\/strong><\/a>, one of the scene\u2019s most eminent DJs and club promoters and host of\u00a0<\/strong>Nocturna<\/strong><\/a>, the longest-running goth event in North America.<\/p>\n

Six years in the making, the ‘Vestige & Vigil’ LP was produced by\u00a0William Faith<\/strong><\/a>, whose credits include\u00a0Jarboe, Clan of Xymox, Bootblacks\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Autumn<\/strong>, and\u00a0Chad Blinman<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(Face To Face, Faith and The Muse, Jarboe)<\/strong>. Recorded by William Faith at\u00a013 Studio<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in Chicago, it was mixed by Blinman at\u00a0The Eye Socket<\/strong>. This album comes 9 years after debuting with\u00a0‘The Night Watch’ EP\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>and four years since their latest single,\u00a0‘Republik’<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Golden Age’ is a rare gift in that I received nearly the entire song in a dream\u2026 The beat, the guitar and bass melody, and the chorus lyric were all just there in my head when I woke up and, without saying a word to Sarah, I ran down to the studio to capture it before I lost it,” explains\u00a0William Faith<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“It has a haunting quality which felt very nostalgic to me, so the lyric is really about the danger of getting lost in nostalgia and losing the present as a result. This is a conversation we have a lot, as so many people seem to stop looking ahead, content to rummage through the past. I\u2019ve always said that tomorrow is way more interesting to me than yesterday, so this song warns about getting stuck there. As for the chorus, it\u2019s anyone\u2019s guess what it means, as it\u2019s all a dream!”<\/p>\n

This single follows singles\u00a0‘We All Rise’<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>(a tale of hope and struggle, of inner-courage and rage for what could be),\u00a0‘Beacons’<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(its \u2018set adrift\u2019 narrative supported by liquid, chorused guitars and distress-signal bass and synth) and the glam-noir lead track\u00a0<\/strong>‘Dystopian Mirror’<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

As of March 31, ‘Golden Age’ is will be available from all fine digital outlets, including\u00a0Apple Music<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>Spotify<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Bandcamp<\/strong><\/a>, where the other singles can also be found. The full ‘Vestige & Vigil’ album will be released on April 28.<\/p>\n
