“Maybe a better question is – what does it mean to be a man in music? Being a man in music means you don’t have to battle for your place, you don’t have to prove yourself, you don’t have to fight to be taken seriously, and you don’t have to worry you’re being booked to meet some quota. Being a woman in music means being fatigued by still having to answer this question in 2023. Music is my life and my world, but it has nothing to do with my gender.”<\/p>\n

Nigerian-born, British Lebanese artist Nicole Moudaber has been smashing perceptions in dance music since the beginning of her career in nightlife by throwing parties in Beirut. Coming into 2023, she has lots in store including the debut of her InTheMood stage takeover at Ultra Music Festival in Miami this month, InTheMood presents headlining show at Knockdown Center in NYC April 1, and an ongoing international tour. “I never think or create based on my gender nor do I think of myself as a woman in music. I simply think of myself as a musician. Having said that, there have been numerous times that I have been reminded of my minority status, especially in the composer world, which have made me feel that I needed to work extra hard to prove myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, to be a woman in music is to be an artist in music. And because the best art inspires and resonates in a universal way I always try to create music that achieves this. This means that all my time and energy goes into writing, recording and performing the kind of songs that invoke this universality of spirit. So, as a music artist I don\u2019t spend much time pondering my womanhood. I get behind my art, put it first, and let it speak for itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

While physically thousands of miles apart, the partnership between LA-based, Greek pop artist KID MOXIE and Berlin-based, German pop artist NINA came organically. Upon connecting, it was instantly clear the two were \u201csynth sisters\u201d destined to make music together. The result is a 5-track EP collection titled Lust set for release on March 24 via Italians Do It Better.\u00a0The title track \u201cLust\u201d is out now onall digital platforms<\/a> alongside an edgy and seductive neo-noir music visual shot in Athens by director Paige Von Bank.\u00a0Most recently, KID MOXIE & NINA unveiled the dreamy escape track \u201cElectric Kiss,\u201d co-written by the duo, with production, mixing and guitars by Athens-based Hristos Lainas aka Franklin and additional arrangement and guitar hook by multi-instrumentalist Oliver Blair aka Radio Wolf.<\/p>\n
