Series to air on WFMT, wfmt.com<\/a>, and the WFMT app Thursdays at 8:00 p.m.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n HIGHLAND PARK, IL<\/strong> \u2013 Ravinia Festival today announced the extension of its \u201cNew from the Ravinia Festival\u201d concert broadcasts with WFMT classical radio. From January 21 to March 11, the series will bring fans new concert recordings from the festival every Thursday at 8:00 p.m. CST on 98.7 WFMT and streaming on wfmt.com<\/a> and the WFMT app.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are thrilled to be working with our WFMT friends once again to bring music from Ravinia to listeners at home,\u201d said Ravinia President and CEO Jeff Haydon<\/strong>. \u201cIn addition, we are grateful to dedicate these broadcasts in memory of Stephen Smoot<\/strong>, a longtime Ravinia staff member and collaborator with WFMT who recently passed unexpectedly.\u201d<\/p>\n The series is composed of eight 45-minute concerts recorded in Ravinia\u2019s Bennett Gordon Hall and is dedicated to Stephen Smoot, the festival\u2019s longtime Artistic Producer who coordinated the broadcasts of many Ravinia concerts on WFMT before his passing late last year. Pianist Claire Huangci <\/strong>is featured when the series kicks off January\u00a021, performing Beethoven\u2019s \u201cPastoral\u201d Symphony in a transcription by Liszt, as well as Bach, Chopin, and Brahms works. The Cavani String Quartet <\/strong>will follow on January\u00a028 with Charles Washington\u2019s Midnight Child <\/em>and Eric Gould\u2019s He Speaks in Shadows (In Memory of John Coltrane)<\/em>, plus Beethoven\u2019s last quartet.<\/p>\n Beethoven highlights continue on February\u00a04 with cellist Oliver Herbert <\/strong>and pianist Xiaohui Yang<\/strong> playing the composer\u2019s first and last cello sonatas, and on March\u00a04 Daniela Liebman <\/strong>headlines with his penultimate piano sonata in addition to Chopin\u2019s Fourth Ballade and the final collection of piano pieces by Brahms. On February\u00a011, pianist Dominic Cheli <\/strong>will perform Carl Vine\u2019s Sonata No.\u00a01 and Schulhoff\u2019s Suite No.\u00a03 for the Left Hand, his own arrangement of Beethoven\u2019s song An die Hoffnung,<\/em> and works by H. Leslie Adams, Clara Schumann, and Couperin.<\/p>\n Violinist Andrew Sords<\/strong> pairs up with pianist Daniel Overly<\/strong> for a February\u00a018 broadcast featuring Franck\u2019s Violin Sonata and Bloch\u2019s Baal Shem<\/em> suite, as well as Brahms\u2019s Sonatensatz<\/em> and Kreisler\u2019s take on a dance from Falla\u2019s La vida breve<\/em>. Capping the month, soprano Nicole Heaston <\/strong>will be joined by members of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra <\/strong>for Jessie Montgomery\u2019s I Want to Go Home<\/em> and songs by Liszt, Schubert, Purcell, and Handel on the February\u00a025 broadcast.
