{"id":35879,"date":"2019-05-19T23:59:21","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T04:59:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/?p=35879"},"modified":"2019-06-10T00:02:31","modified_gmt":"2019-06-10T05:02:31","slug":"living-color-performs-july-3rd-at-naperville-ribfest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/beintheloopchicago.com\/?p=35879","title":{"rendered":"Living Color Performs July 3rd at Naperville Ribfest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Naperville Ribfest 2019 co-chairs Sandy Rocush and Pete Paulsen have confirmed that Living Colour will perform as a supporting act for Billy Idol July 3<sup>rd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Living Colour\u2019s first appearance at Ribfest is a must-hear for music fans, says co-chair Sandy Rocush. \u201cTheir sound is influenced by heavy metal, funk, jazz, hip hop, punk, and alternative rock, and their lyrics are complex and compelling.\u201d Vernon Reid, the group\u2019s founder, Pete Paulsen offers, is \u201cacknowledged as one of the most creative guitarists in modern rock.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Living Colour<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more than thirty years, the members of Living Colour have created, recorded and performed their own brand of heavy rock that draws as much inspiration from yesteryear soul men and rock gods as they do from post-bop jazz and boulevard shaking hip-hop. Founded by guitarist Vernon Reid back when he was still a dreadlocked sideman with Ronald Shannon Jackson and other East Village noise ensembles, Living Colour includes vocalist Corey Glover, drummer Will Calhoun and bassist Doug Wimbish.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Vernon Reid, the group\u2019s founder and guitarist, muses, \u201cTo me, there seems to be a shadow cast across our collective lives. We can either allow it to oppress us or we can shine a light on it,\u201d concludes Reid. \u201c\u2018Shade\u2019, our album released in 2018, is the sound of a band coming to terms with the shadows and shining a light by using the blues as a mirror.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s lineup for Ribfest 2019 on the Navistar Main Stage includes Billy Idol &#8211; Living Colour July 3rd, Flo Rida with fireworks by Meijer July 4th, and Brantley Gilbert July 5th. \u00a0The July 6th headliner will be announced soon.
