If the first day of Ruido Fest was a bliss-out,\u00a0 the second (July 11) was one epic, loud, booty shaking melee. The sun may have spent the day hidden behind a cloudy sky which sporadically sprinkled rain on the fest goers, but it really didn’t matter. The crowd on this day was intent on “shaking it” with a vengeance, and the performers were more then happy to provide the fuel.<\/p>\n
The party got started in the late afternoon at the tiny Mil Mascaras Stage with the band Descartes A Kant with their mash-up of burlesque,\u00a0 low comedy, and art rock served up with balloons, cr\u00e8me pies, and lots of feathers. For something a bit more straight forward and family friendly, spitfire Jessy Bulbo\u00a0 ripped through a fierce set which had the crowd in a lather.<\/p>\n
At exactly 6:45 pm the festival officially went off the rails when Ozomatli got onstage and tore through a set long jam session of hardcore funk-rock. For another dollop of upfront humor, Silverio mixed killer beats while strutting and clowning through a set that had his fans in a frenzy. With his voice sounding like Jabba the Hut on a bender, Silverio pointed up\u00a0an appealing facet of the festival in that\u00a0you certainly did not have to speak Spanish to enjoy what was offered.<\/p>\n
The finale for the day came with the anticipated arrival of Molotov, who attacked with an incendiary set of hard rock served up with technical and musical flash and drive. The crack security crew tried to dissuade body surfing, but with all that Molotov promised and delivered, the effort was in vain.<\/p>\n
