They were originally known as &#8220;The Academy&#8221;, but added the &#8220;Is&#8230;&#8221; in 2004 to avoid legal complications with other established bands already under that name.<sup id=\"cite_ref-2\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_academy_is#cite_note-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">[2]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0The band released three studio albums,\u00a0<i><a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Almost Here (The Academy Is album)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Almost_Here_(The_Academy_Is_album)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Almost Here<\/a><\/i>,\u00a0<i><a title=\"Santi (album)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Santi_(album)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Santi<\/a><\/i>, and\u00a0<i><a title=\"Fast Times at Barrington High\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fast_Times_at_Barrington_High\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fast Times at Barrington High<\/a><\/i>, and four EPs.
