Washington St.) and the <strong>Garfield Park Conservatory<\/strong> (300 N. Central Park Ave.). A special introductory program will bring the series outside to <strong>The<\/strong> <strong>606 Walk and Global Peace Picnic <\/strong>at the <strong>Humboldt Park Boathouse<\/strong> (1301 N. Sacramento Ave.) as part of the <strong>World Music Festival Chicago<\/strong><em>. <\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>With its engaging music, dance and theater performances in a kid-friendly setting, the free-admission Juicebox programs are geared toward the \u201cstroller set\u201d and enjoyable for the whole family. Children will experience a diverse range of artistic and educational presentations, with hosts regularly inviting youngsters to move, dance and otherwise interact with performers.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>On September 17, special family Juicebox performances from world music artists Mdou Moctar, La Tribu de Abrante, and Betsayda Machado y Parranda el Clavo will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. as part of the The 606 Walk and Global Peace Picnic. Earlier from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., there will be instrument making and other activities at the Milwaukee\/Leavitt Park and Ridgeway Trailhead to The 606. The group will then move along The 606 in a Peace Procession to the Humboldt Overlook. The Juicebox performances start at 2 p.m. at the Humboldt Park Boathouse.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The fall program begins on Friday, October 6, and will continue on the first and third Friday of each month at the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington St.) and on the first and third Saturday of each month at the Garfield Park Conservatory (300 N. Central Park Ave.) through May. Their sound melds traditional bomba and plena melodies with salsa, Latin jazz, funk, reggaeton and urban pop.<\/div>\n<div><strong>Mdou Moctar (Niger)<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Mdou Moctar is a\u00a0Tuareg songwriter and musician based in\u00a0Agadez,\u00a0Niger, and is one of the first musicians to perform modern electronic adaptations of\u00a0Tuareg guitar music. He plays a\u00a0left-handed Fender\u00a0in a\u00a0takamba\u00a0and assouf style.<\/div>\n<div><strong>Betsayda Machado y La Parranda El Clavo (Venezuela)<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Betsayda Machado is the voice of Venezuela.\u00a0 Raised in the small village of El Clavo in the<\/div>\n<div>region of Barlovento,\u00a0her recent rural recordings with lifelong friends Parranda El Clavo brought new attention to Venezuelan Afro-Soul genre: &#8216;Tambor.&#8217;<\/div>\n<div><strong><em>September 17, <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>2\u20136 p.m., Humboldt Park Boathouse<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Istvan &amp; His Imaginary Band<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Indie artist turned Kindie artist, Istvan has gone all out in the children\u2019s area since the birth of his daughter, who often joins him on stage, and is as committed as ever to rocking the kiddies and families that come to his shows.<\/div>\n<div><strong><em>October 6, Chicago Cultural Center<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong><em>October 7, Garfield Park Conservatory<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Chicago Folklore Ensemble<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>The Chicago Folklore Ensemble\u00a0celebrates Chicago\u2019s immigrant musicians and helps share and pass on their stories and musical knowledge through performances that interweave music and storytelling.
