Carl Terrell Mitchell<\/b>\u00a0(born November 27, 1973), better known by his stage name\u00a0Twista<\/b>\u00a0(formerly\u00a0Tung Twista<\/b>), is an American\u00a0hip hop<\/a>\u00a0recording artist from\u00a0Chicago<\/a>,\u00a0Illinois<\/a>. \u00a0Carl Mitchell grew up in the\u00a0K-Town<\/a>\u00a0area of the\u00a0North Lawndale<\/a>\u00a0neighborhood on the\u00a0West Side<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Chicago<\/a>,\u00a0Illinois<\/a>and began rapping when he was 12. He is perhaps best known for his\u00a0chopper<\/a>\u00a0style of\u00a0rapping<\/a>and for once holding the title of fastest rapper in the world according to\u00a0Guinness World Records<\/a>\u00a0in 1992, being able to pronounce 598 syllables in 55 seconds.[2]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

In 1997, after appearing on\u00a0Do or Die<\/a>‘s hit single “Po Pimp<\/a>“, produced by\u00a0The Legendary Traxster<\/a>, Twista signed with Big Beat and Atlantic Records, where he released his third album\u00a0Adrenaline Rush<\/a><\/i>\u00a0and formed the group\u00a0Speedknot Mobstaz<\/a>, in 1998. His 2004 album\u00a0Kamikaze<\/a><\/i>\u00a0reached the top of the US\u00a0Billboard<\/i>\u00a0200<\/a>\u00a0album chart, after the success of the\u00a0Billboard<\/i>\u00a0Hot 100<\/a>\u00a0single “Slow Jamz<\/a>“.<\/p>\n

In January 2013, Twista was featured in a remix of\u00a0Lil Reese<\/a>‘s song “Traffic”. As of 2013, Twista was working on his ninth studio album entitled\u00a0The Dark Horse<\/i>. He also was rumored to be in the works of signing a record deal with\u00a0Kanye West<\/a>‘s music label\u00a0GOOD Music<\/a>, although in an interview with\u00a0HipHopDX<\/a>\u00a0Twista denied the rumor.[citation needed<\/span><\/a><\/i>]<\/sup>\u00a0The first single was “Throwin My Money”, featuring\u00a0R. Kelly<\/a>\u00a0and produced by Chris Millionaire. Twista appeared on the song “Jewels N Drugs” by\u00a0Lady Gaga<\/a>\u00a0on the album\u00a0ARTPOP<\/a><\/i>. “It’s Yours” featuring Tia London, the first single from\u00a0The Dark Horse<\/i>, was released on May 6, 2014.[13]<\/a><\/sup>[14]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0It will be serviced to\u00a0urban contemporary<\/a>\u00a0radio in the United States on May 27, 2014 by\u00a0Capitol Records<\/a>.[15]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0Twista is featured on the song “Gossip” from\u00a0When Music Worlds Collide<\/a>\u00a0released in May of 2015.<\/p>\n
