Chicago, IL \u2014\u00a0After three decades of fruitful collaboration as bandmates in\u00a0BAUHAUS, TONES ON TAIL<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0LOVE AND ROCKETS<\/strong>, Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins have teamed up with Diva Dompe, Haskins\u2019 daughter, to create\u00a0POPTONE.\u00a0<\/strong>Metro is thrilled to host the trio on Sunday, July 9, as Daniel and Kevin revisit their storied catalogue and revitalize post-punk touchstones with a contemporary approach.<\/p>\n

Originally emerging from the British punk and rock underground in the late \u201870s, Daniel and Kevin, along with vocalist Peter Murphy and bassist David J, Bauhaus spawned four iconoclastic and ultra-seminal albums as well as keystone singles “She’s In Parties”, “Ziggy Stardust”, and, of course, “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” before disbanding in 1983.<\/p>\n

Rising from the rubble, Daniel and Glenn Campling collaborated soon after as the short-lived but no less impactful Tones on Tail (with Kevin joining the fray soon after), and pumped out synth-driven dance floor hits such as \u201cOk This Is the Pops\u201d, \u201cChristian Says\u201d, and the smash \u201cGo!\u201d Next, the duo reunited with Bauhaus bassist David J. and hit the mainstream with the formation of Love and Rockets through the 1989 hit single \u201cSo Alive\u201d, which reached Number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.<\/p>\n

\u201cKevin [Haskins] and I get along really well, like a house on fire, we\u2019re really different personalities, which is why it probably works,\u201d Ash said of his longtime bandmate and stalwart collaborator. The duo\u2019s palpable creative chemistry can be heard in the ghostly romanticism of Bauhaus, the velvety atmospheres conjured up by Tones on Tail, in Love and Rockets\u2019 psychedelia tinged drone\u2014that musical magnetism will consume Metro as\u00a0POPTONE<\/strong>\u00a0retell the history of post-punk one song at a time.<\/p>\n
