For the first time in the band\u2019s nearly forty\u2013year history, here is the story of The Cure\u2014virtual inventors of alternative music\u2014from someone who was there at the very beginning: Lol Tolhurst, the band\u2019s co\u2013founder, co\u2013songwriter, and lifelong friend of lead singer Robert Smith.<\/p>\n
