Opening date of a six city tour, this event will be the epicenter of classic ol’ skool Chicago Industrial music as Wax Trax! Records will set up a pop up store as well as a viewing of the documentary Industrial Accident and performance by the band who helped make a name for Wax Trax! Records and the Chicago Industrial scene, Ministry.
Ministry will be performing a set comprised of Wax Trax era music. This is something that has never happened before and may never happen again. Al Jourgensen seems to have finally come around and become more accepting (and/or tolerant) of that era that helped build them into the legendary band they are today.
During this event, you will be able to watch the film, ask questions to some of the folks who made the film and scene happen as well as hear iconic music from Ministry. Also joining this tour will be LA based, (and I’m sure Wax Trax! Records influenced) Cold Cave.
This is a hybrid collaboration years in the making as Julia Nash and her husband have been rebuilding the legacy her father Jim Nash and his friend Dannie Flesher started roughly 40 years ago. Wax Trax! Records is in her blood and part of her family roots. She’s dusted off some vintage vinyl, unpacked iconic inventory from her dad’s place that was stored away for over 20 years, collected old photos and videos from a time long gone but never forgotten and reassembled a revived era that fans just won’t let go of. That, along with new interviews with artist and bands that helped give the label an identity. Also, even more for the fans, they have created a traveling pop-up store up where you can relive the days of the old shop and even buy vintage new old stock in this amazing one day only event.
This micro tour starts right here where it all came to fruition for both Ministry and Wax Trax! Records on April 13th 2019 and continues through Brooklyn, Toronto, Austin, San Francisco and finally Los Angeles.
