Making their return to Chicago, The Damned will be playing back at the House of Blues tonight with a new twist.<\/p>\n

First generation British punk icons The Damned<\/strong> will be performing in Chicago\u00a0at HOB on May 30<\/b>\u00a0in addition to the West Coast dates and special performances at Punk Rock Bowling<\/strong> and Camp Anarchy<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span>Dave Vanian<\/strong>, Captain Sensible<\/strong>, Monty<\/strong> and Pinch<\/strong> will be joined by the triumphant return of \u2018Black Album\u2019 and \u2018Strawberries\u2019-era bassist Paul Gray<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Paul has been back in the fold since his appearance on The Damned\u2019s highly praised 2018 album release Evil Spirits<\/em><\/strong>, produced by the venerable Tony Visconti<\/strong>, which was their first LP in 10 years, and became their first ever Top 10<\/strong> album in their 41-year career<\/strong>. Paul has also played with The Damned in the UK and Paris, driving UK press into a frenzy. Louder Than War<\/strong> reported, \u201c\u2018It\u2019s twenty-six years since I last saw Paul Gray play live with The Damned but I don\u2019t remember him driving a performance with such gusto.\u2019 The Damned have always been visually compelling but now the spectacle is enhanced further\u2026this truly is a band at the top of its game.\u201d For the first time\u00a0since 1988\u2019s Final Damnation Tour, US fans will have a chance to see Paul Gray perform with the band.<\/span><\/p>\n

In celebration of the 40th anniversary<\/strong> of their seminal and riotous album Machine Gun Etiquette<\/em><\/strong>, which The Damned will be playing in its entirety live, the band will also perform a nuanced mix of epic fan favorites from their vast catalogue over the past four decades, guaranteeing fans a raucous set.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

The greatest surviving British punk band are still firing on all cylinders and breaking all the rules. Where their peers either burnt out or faded away into mediocrity, this most spiritually chaotic of all punk groups have never been away, never surrendered their ideals, always forged onwards. Colourful, anarchic, and propelled by an indefatigable creative motor, they\u2019ve expanded their remit with every phase, to become one of the top-flight UK groups of ANY pop era.<\/span><\/div>\n
